The University’s Feel Good February programme of free events and activities starts today running throughout the whole month.

There are over 200 events and activities taking place, all are aligned to the 6 ways to wellbeing: Connect, Be active, Take Notice, Keep Learning, Give, Be Sustainable.

Library Events

You can find out more and view events on the Wellbeing Hub or on the My Liverpool App for quick and easy access to the programme anytime, anywhere. (Bonus: you can also use the My Liverpool app as your virtual library card!).

  • Book Swaps, every Wednesday 2-3pm – Swap your old books for exciting new reads! Visit either library and leave your books in the book swap box and select a new book to read! Book swaps are a great way to reduce waste by recycling your unused books and giving and receiving a new book!
  • Introduction to meditation, Thursday, 17 February - Set some time aside in your day to learn about a technique that will help you unwind and find peace within. The session will cover the definition and benefits of mindfulness and meditation in our daily lives, how to set up comfortably for meditation, a guided meditation and meditation book suggestions.
  • Book Club Session, Wednesday, 23rd February – Join us for a library book club meeting to discuss the book that YOU voted for: The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa. To borrow a digital copy, visit Overdrive, or download the Libby App.
  • KnowHow Academic Skills Sessions – Throughout the month, KnowHow will be running virtual and face to face sessions to help you improve your academic skills. Events include Note Taking Techniques, Managing your time, Planning Essays and more!
  • Special Collections & Archives exhibition ‘Peninsula of Pictures: Children’s books from the Oldham collection’ – This exhibition showcases historic illustrated children’s books collected by Mr & Mrs Oldham of Birkenhead. It includes works by many famous illustrators with links to the Wirral peninsula, including its neighbours Liverpool (birthplace of Walter Crane) and Chester (birthplace of Randolph Caldecott). Visit the display in the exhibition area outside Special Collections & Archives, Ground Floor Grove Wing, Sydney Jones Library from 14th February.

Karen Standley, Head of Customer Services, said: “We’re delighted to offer a programme of fun and creative activities in the libraries for Feel Good February. With much of our time now spent looking at screens, we’re looking forward to seeing students and staff in the libraries participating in book swaps, attending book clubs and visiting library exhibitions.”
