February is LGBTQIA+ History Month and to celebrate we’ve highlighted some LGBTQIA+ film and book recommendations from digital platforms you can access through your University account – for free.
LGBTQIA+ History is more than just a month and it is important to engage with these stories all year. You have access beyond February, 24/7 while you're a Liv Uni student!
On the Overdrive website, or via the Libby app, check out LGBTQIA+ related titles this February – and any month of the year.
Our recommendations include Loveless, from Alice Oseman the author of the Heartstopper graphic novel series and Beyond the Gender Binary by Alok Vaid-Menon.

Kanopy is an on-demand video streaming platform with films and documentaries from a range of genres and topics. Using your University email address, you can access content on Kanopy for free! Celebrate LGBT+ History Month with their LGBTQIA+ collections.
From the indie coming of age comedy Almost Adults (2017) and Spanish LGBTQ drama Enigma (2018) to Queer History and Transgender Awareness documentaries.
See Something Different with BFI Player. From the British Film Institute, BFI Player offers acclaimed global cinema and archive films available to watch on all devices. Your University email account allows access to their Subscriptions and Free collections, so there’s plenty of great films to explore!
Check out their Queer Britain Collection - all completely free to watch, this colourful and challenging collection explores screen representations of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lives over the past century.
British Box of Broadcasts (BoB) is an archive of film, TV and radio programmes, with over 3 million broadcasts, accessible to university students and staff. You can also record live TV from over 75 channels and create your own playlists. By searching ‘LGBTQ+’, you can browse playlists and programmes from across the archive, dating back to the 1970s. Watch LGBTQIA+ films such as Pride (2014) and the Oscar-winning Moonlight (2016) for free using your University login.
