The University of Liverpool Library has achieved its best score to date in this year’s National Student Survey (NSS).

The Library achieved a satisfaction score of 90% placing it third in the Russell Group. This score reflects student satisfaction with library resources to support their learning.

The NSS gathers feedback from final year undergraduate students, which we use to continually improve the services we offer in support of your university experience. We’ve previously introduced a number of measures as a result of student comments, including increased study space and further investment in the information resources available to students.

Phil Sykes, University Librarian, said: We are delighted with this year’s NSS results, particularly in the context of the major disruption to this academic year due to COVID-19. We are always striving to improve your experience when using the library and our highest priority throughout lockdown has been to continue to support you online in every way possible by adapting our existing services and developing new services and solutions in response to your needs".

During the closure period, we have continued to offer our KnowHow academic support online which has been very popular amongst many of you, particularly in the lead up to the summer assessment period. We have also seen an increase in the use of our Get It For Me service which has allowed you to request additional online resources to support your learning whilst the library buildings have been closed. The Library has also invested in various improvement projects in the past year, including additional study spaces and improvements to facilities in the Harold Cohen Library, and we are pleased that this is reflected in the NSS results.

More positive feedback

It has been great to keep in touch with you all online throughout this period and we have received a great deal of positive feedback from you on social media:

“You’re the best, library! (and the best library)”

“Fair play to @LivUniLibrary they are processing ebook requests very quickly. Making my research a lot easier considering the outbreak”

“You guys will still remain the best University Library ever”

Reopening

As the phased reopening of the libraries continues, we are committed to offering the same excellent level of service and working with you to find ways to further improve student experience. We look forward to welcoming you back to the libraries very soon.
