As lockdown restrictions continue to ease, we are working hard to safely reopen our libraries so you can access study spaces and other library services again. We are pleased to announce that from Monday 3rd August the Harold Cohen Library will be open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday and the following library services will be available:

  • Bookable study spaces in the Harold Cohen library
  • Access to printers in the Harold Cohen Library

How to use study spaces:

  • Book a study space – there are two types of study space available: with a PC and without a PC. There will also be some seating available for drop in visits, but we advise that you book a study space in advance as seating is limited
  • When you arrive at the Library and find your study space, check in using the QR code on the seat or via your email booking confirmation
  • ‘Check out’ using the QR code when you leave the library

At this time there will be no access to the book stacks for browsing or borrowing. For all book requests please continue to use the Click & Collect service.

There is a lot for us to consider at this stage and whilst we are working hard to make as many services available as possible please be aware that some services, such as vending machines and hot water taps, may be temporarily unavailable during your visit. If you wish to use a laptop we recommend that you bring your own as the library is currently unable to loan laptops.

Health and Safety

We are following government and University guidelines and are committed to ensuring that the library is a safe space for everyone. We have put measures in place to limit the risk to staff and students including clearly marked directional systems, socially distanced study spaces, building occupancy limits and provision of hand sanitiser and other cleaning materials.

While inside our library buildings, we strongly recommend that you:

  • Maintain social distancing
  • Wear a face covering
  • Wipe down study spaces using cleaning wipes provided
  • Dispose of your rubbish after your visit

For further information, please see the University Guidance.

We are also working towards reopening the Sydney Jones Library for studying and other services later this month. In the meantime, all staff and students, no matter their subject, are welcome to use the Harold Cohen Library.

You can still get in touch with us online via our online chat or by emailing library@liverpool.ac.uk.
