If you are planning to visit the Library in person this semester, please read our guidance about using the Library during the national lockdown.

 

The Library is here to support your learning and provide access to the resources you need. Here are our our top tips for making the most of the Library’s services to help you prepare for semester two.

KnowHow to support your learning

KnowHow provides a full programme of academic support sessions to help you succeed in your studies. All sessions are currently being delivered online and topics include:

  • Finding Information for your Assignment
  • Referencing support
  • Managing your Time
  • Note Taking Techniques
  • Planning your Essay
  • Introduction to Critical Reading

Writing@Liverpool

Writing@Liverpool is an initiative delivered by postgraduate tutors who have lots of experience in academic writing.

Book a one to one appointment with a tutor for support with analysing questions, becoming more critical, structuring your writing or referencing. 

Stats@Liverpool

Stats@Liverpool is a free service to help you boost your statistical skills.

Book a one to one appointment with a friendly postgraduate statistics tutor for support in choosing statistical tests, using statistical packages and understanding statistical concepts.

Referencing

If you have assignments, essays or dissertations to complete in semester two and you want to refresh your referencing skills, check out our Guide to Referencing.

If you need more support with referencing, contact the Liaison Librarian for your subject.

Find the resources you need online

There are plenty of ways to access Library resources online if you can't collect from the Library in person or if you need to use resources that we don't have a physical copy of. We have over 900,000 electronic books and 130,000 electronic journals available to you 24/7 wherever you have an internet connection.

If you need support finding resources, contact the Liaison Librarian for your subject who can help you find what you need.

Click & Collect

If you are currently living in Liverpool or on campus, we are providing a Click & Collect service with collection from the Sydney Jones Library only, 11am – 4pm Monday - Friday, to provide essential access to copies from the Harold Cohen or Sydney Jones libraries that are not available online.

Books can be returned to the book return box in the Harold Cohen Library 7 days a week or to the Sydney Jones Library Monday – Friday 11am - 4pm. 

Book Delivery Service

We also provide a free Book and Copy Delivery Service if you can’t visit the Library to collect your book requests. Through this service we will post books held in stock and copies of journal articles or book chapters directly to your home address.
