University of Liverpool Library Public Sector Information

The University of Liverpool Library is required to comply with the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015 (the PSI Regulations). These regulate how information the Library holds or creates is made available for re-use. They require that the Library publish a Public Task Statement and a list of documents available for re-use.

What is re-use?

Re-use means using information for a purpose different to the one it was initially produced, held collected or disseminated.

Public Task Statement

This statement sets out the functions carried out by the University of Liverpool Library and what information is available for re-use under the Public Sector Information Regulations 2015. This statement is regularly reviewed.

The Public Task

The University of Liverpool was founded by Royal Charter in 1903. The University of Liverpool Library, as part of Professional Services, aims to inspire scholarship by providing excellent collections, friendly expertise, innovative services and a welcoming environment. Our primary aim is to support staff and students of the University in all areas of their study and research.

Library Collections (Online and physical) are searchable through Library website. Application for re-use of these materials will be considered on a case by case basis. The Library service may place conditions upon re-use.

Documents which lie outside the Library’s Public Task Statement will not be accessible for re-use under the Regulations. These include documents:

  • which are regulated by the Data Protection Act 1998
  • which are accessible under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
  • where copyright is owned by someone other than the University.

The University of Liverpool and its Heritage collections are not covered by the PSI regulations.

PSI requests

If you have any query about this public task statement, wish to inquire about re-use of information under the Re-use of Public Sector Information (PSI) Regulations, or wish to lodge a complaint about a decision made in relation to the Regulations, please contact the Licensing Manager with PSI in the subject line.

When requesting information please include the following information:

  • The applicant’s name and an address for correspondence.
  • The document specifically requested.
  • The purpose for which the stated document is to be re-used.

The re-use of these materials are considered on a case by case basis, the Library may impose conditions upon re-use depending on the material requested.

In accordance with the Regulations any requests for re-use will be addressed within 20 working days or an explanation provided if a longer delay is anticipated.
