The University's main library for medical resources is the Harold Cohen Library.

If you are one of our students and you are having difficulties accessing the Library resources remotely, e.g. from your hospital workplace, try the University's Apps Anywhere service.

Summary:

The Book and Copy Delivery Service is a means by which the Library will post books held in stock and copies of journal articles or book chapters directly to your home or work address. This service is free of charge for staff, students and Alumni of the University.

Check Library Search to see whether the item you want is available. Books sent on loan will be issued to your library record.

We can supply articles subject to copyright limits i.e. only one article from the same issue of a journal.

Requests are submitted via the Get It For Me service using their Managed Windows Service (MWS) username and password to log in.

If it is your first time using the service, you will be prompted to set up an account.

Before submitting your request, please check Library Search, to see whether the Library has available copies in its collection.

When filling the form, please give as much detail as possible to help us identify the resource successfully and quickly, otherwise your request may be delayed.

The following information is required when submitting a request:

  • For books:
Author’s full name, full title, publisher, date of publication and ISBN. It is useful to include the source of reference, i.e. details of the book, bibliography or journal article from where you took the information about your request.
  • For journal articles:
Title of journal, the relevant year, volume number, issue number if known, pages, ISSN and also the author and title of the article.

Please note: If you need to locate the ISBN or ISSN for an item, you can do this by searching for the item via WorldCat. When you find the item, click on it and scroll down to 'details.' There you will see the ISBN or ISSN for the item.

For Journals Sherpa Romeo is a useful tool for finding the ISSN. For further information about chapters and books including the ISBN or ISSN please also see the Library Hub.

  • Books will not be the responsibility of the hospital library or librarian. The University of Liverpool will be responsible for each book until it is collected by the reader, and after it has been returned to the hospital library by the reader. The reader is responsible for the book while it is their possession.
  • Fines will be applied to items returned late, but the University of Liverpool (and not the hospital library) will be responsible for administering these charges. To allow sufficient time for items to be returned by hospital libraries, fines will not be applied until one week after the date stamped in the book.
  • Items lent to readers via this service are subject to recall if the item is required by another University of Liverpool reader, but recall notifications will be issued by the UoL direct to the reader, and not to the hospital library
