Temporary study space changes during the January exam period

by Emma Taylor on 2025-12-18T10:59:35+00:00 | 0 Comments

During the January exam period, the Library experiences significantly increased demand for quiet study areas. To ensure all students have access to appropriate spaces, we will be implementing temporary changes to room access:

  • The Taught Postgraduate Room in the Abercromby Wing will be opened to undergraduate students for the duration of the exam period.

  • For quiet, postgraduate‑focused study spaces, Taught Postgraduates will have swipe access to the Researcher Reading Room in the Grove Wing.

  • Additional study desks will also be available in the Taylor Room (Abercromby Wing, 1st Floor, SJL) and other designated areas.

  • No booking is needed, all spaces will be open to all if free.

We appreciate that these changes involve the sharing of spaces ordinarily reserved for specific groups. We have arranged these adjustments to ensure that suitable alternatives remain available and that all users continue to have access to study environments.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
