Homer Collection

Some 650 volumes of illustrated editions and translations of Homer published before 1850.

SPEC Homer I.840:1

The collection (established in 1953) was arranged by Dr John Pinsent of the University of Liverpool and is particularly strong in English and illustrated editions. It includes the 17th-century translation by Thomas Hobbes (1588-1679), and 18th-century translations by Anne Dacier, John Ozell and Alexander Pope.
