We remain as committed as ever to helping both new and returning students get the most out of our services. For many of you, semester 2 will also be *whispers* dissertation season… and there are plenty of resources that we have available which can help you manage such a mammoth task and avoid those “I can definitely write 5,000 words today” delusions (We’ve all been there…).
One of the most popular queries we encounter is about a lack of access to certain e-resources, databases, books or journals. However, the library offers Get It For Me – a free service in which you can ask the library to source the resource you need. This service is fully integrated into library search – just sign in, expand your search at the top to see items beyond our collections, and request the item from us.
For those of you in your academic weapon era, you can sharpen your skills by attending some of our KnowHow sessions. KnowHow is a free service offering workshops, webinars and online tutorials to help improve your academic abilities. These range from exam preparation, statistics and referencing to sourcing information, critical analysis and more. There are also 1-1 appointments available with both the Writing@Liverpool and Stats@Liverpool tutors for more tailored support.
Furthermore, your academic liaison librarian can help you to achieve academic success and save you time. These subject-expert librarians can help you:
Book an appointment with your academic liaison librarian.
Throughout Semester 2 – make sure to take time for yourself. Taking a break from your academic efforts to focus on other things; like enjoying a new hobby, playing some sports, or practicing mindfulness. The University is also here to support you when you need it, and offers a range of wellbeing services.
Most importantly, have fun! University isn’t just a time to be stressing over deadlines and late-night study sessions in the libraries. Semester 2 (my personal favourite) means warmer weather – sunny days on campus, some drinks with friends and walks in the park. For many students, this may be your last semester with us, and we want to make sure you enjoy it. Keep an eye out on our socials for news on upcoming events – and try your best to make the most out of every day you have this semester.
The library is here for you. We wish you continued success and hope you all have an incredible Semester 2!
