Detail of MS F.2.9: BreviaryPhysical description: On parchment. v + 157 + ii leaves, 130 x 100 mm. Ruled with violet ink.

Contents: Ordinary and canon of the Mass added, with musical notation, in 15th century. Wanting all before f.122 of an early foliation, and other leaves. 'Benedictione' ... added on 16th century endpaper.

Decoration: 1- and 2-line initials in red and blue; capital letters filled in yellow.

Binding: 19th century blue morocco binding.

Provenance 1500-1500: Belonged in 1500 to the Charterhouse of the Val de Benediction at Villeneuve-lez-Avignon (inscription on f.152v).

Provenance 1800-1900: no. 557 in unidentified English bookseller's catalogue.

Provenance 1845-1900: Armorial bookplate of W. H. Rylands (1847-1922).
