Henry Peet Papers

The Peet collection comprises 11 archive boxes, 2 boxes of glass slides and 1 bound volume of material acquired by Peet for use in his publications, and biographical information.

Henry Peet (1856-1938), Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries, was a local historian and JP in Liverpool with a particular interest in parish records.

He worked under Professor Twemlow at the University of Liverpool School of Local History and Records, and transcribed and edited the School's first published volume, The Earliest Registers of the Parish of Liverpool (St Nicholas's Church) (1909). His other publications include Inventory of the Parish Churches of Liverpool (1893), Liverpool in the reign of Queen Anne (1908) and Records of the Parish of Liverpool from the Vestry Minute Books 1681-1834 (1912-1915).
