As a final year management student, I know the importance of being able to accurately reference. Nevertheless, the process can still be confusing, leaving you wondering where to seek the necessary guidance, and at the same time feeling that internal pressure to already have it mastered. Thankfully, the university offers a variety of invaluable resources designed to assist you with referencing, catering to various preferences and schedules, and November is Referencing Month – where there is more support than ever available through the library!
In my personal experience, I'd like to share some of the resources that have proven super helpful and beneficial to my studies.
Sometimes, there's no substitute for hands-on guidance. I discovered these sessions to be incredibly beneficial, as they allowed me to actively engage and seek answers to my questions. This month there are sessions running on all the commonly used styles including Harvard, OSCOLA, APA, Chicago, Vancouver, MHRA and the referencing management software EndNote. You can find out more and book your place via the KnowHow website.
This month there will be several referencing drop-in slots happening both online and in-person, where you can come along and get any of your referencing queries answered. Again you can find out when these are happening via the KnowHow website.
For those seeking more personalised and in-depth assistance, booking an appointment with your Liaison Librarian can be a game-changer. This service offers you the opportunity for a one-on-one meeting to address your specific referencing needs. Book an appointment here.
This is a comprehensive hub that breaks down the referencing process from its very core, answering the questions of 'why,' 'when,' and 'what' to reference. Here, you'll find a direct link to the 'Macmillan Cite them Right' page, which serves as a guide for better understanding the process of referencing.
With these resources, it is much easier to navigate the sometimes-complex world of referencing with greater ease and assurance. So, whether you're starting from scratch or looking to refine your skills, the library has a variety of resources to help you.
